About

Emre Aksu (b. 1987, Istanbul) is a Brussels-based sculptor and art director working at the intersection of fine art, architecture, and cinematic space. His practice focuses on visual storytelling through form, material, and environment, spanning both physical and digital production.

Trained in sculpture at Anadolu University (B.A. 2015, M.A. 2021), Aksu’s artistic work explores themes of transformation, mythology, and human existence. Working with materials such as metal, marble, wood, and wire, he creates sculptural forms that balance strength and fragility, movement and stillness. His recent works investigate wire-based figures, where line, void, and motion become central elements of expression.

Alongside his studio practice, Aksu has an extensive career in film and television as an art director, set decorator, and prop master. He has contributed to large-scale productions for platforms and broadcasters including Netflix, Red Bull, TRT, BluTV, and HBO Max, working on historical dramas, sci-fi narratives, commercials, and music videos. His background in sculpture informs a material-driven approach to set design, where environments are constructed not only as backdrops, but as narrative devices.

Aksu has collaborated with master sculptors on monumental public art projects, including works by Kemal Tufan and Mehmet Aksoy, gaining hands-on experience in large-scale sculpture, architectural integration, and public space production. These collaborations played a key role in shaping his understanding of form, scale, and cultural context.

His sculptural works have been exhibited in Paris, Istanbul, and other international venues, including Kaleidoscope of Art (Paris, 2024), Art Contact Contemporary Art Fair (Istanbul, 2024), and Another Story at Loft Art Gallery (Istanbul, 2023).

Since relocating to Brussels in 2023, Aksu continues to develop personal sculptural projects while collaborating with film studios, creative agencies, and cultural institutions. His work moves fluidly between sculpture, set design, and 3D environments, focusing on spaces that carry narrative, atmosphere, and meaning.
